Responsibilities

As part of a large, dynamic team serving clients across government, industrial, commercial, and scientific sectors, the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Lead and manage LCA-focused sustainability projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
  • Directly engage with senior-level clients to understand sustainability objectives and translate them into actionable strategies informed by comprehensive analyses and assessments.
  • Conduct embodied and operational carbon assessments and develop carbon reduction strategies.
  • Analyze and interpret LCA results to identify environmental impact hotspots and propose clear, practical and context specific solutions. 
  • Interpret and extract data from Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs); and develop EPDs when required.
  • Apply LCA methodologies in line with green building certification requirements (e.g., LEED BD+C).
  • Be proficient in LCA tools, particularly OneClick LCA; and explore additional tools as needed.
  • Collect, validate, and manage data to develop robust LCA models and perform full LCA assessments.
  • Oversee and mentor teams, ensuring effective project execution while managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Lead and manage client meetings, workshops, and the development of presentations and technical reports.
  • Prepare and deliver structured, comprehensive reports and presentations tailored to client needs and sustainability reporting standards.
  • Apply knowledge of standards such as PAS 2080 and RICS and other relevant standards to inform recommendations, strategy development and carbon guidance.
  • Stay up to date on the latest LCA industry trends and best practices in carbon reduction. 
  • Contribute to technical proposals and build relationships with potential clients. 
  • Monitor project budgets, timelines, and invoicing to ensure commercial success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Engineering in relevant discipline (Architecture, Mechanical/Electrical/Environmental Science or other relevant discipline).
  • Master’s degree, Sustainability accreditation (LEED AP, WELL AP or equivalent) and international work exposure is a plus.
  • 8-10 years of professional experience.
  • Ability to work across multiple disciplines and a flexible mindset to working.
  • Excellent written English and verbal communication, presentation and organisational skills.
  • Experience of working on multiple projects, simultaneously.
  • Collaborative mindset and outcome driven working method.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical delivery of GHG inventory services, including operational Scope 1+2 and value chain Scope 3 inventories, FLAG GHG accounting, voluntary and regulated compliance advisory for GHG emissions reporting, benchmarking, and information system and data planning.
  • Lead the data collection, cleaning and analysis work: collect, analyze, and interpret activity data related to GHG emissions using advanced tools and methodologies.
  • Act as technical project manager on GHG inventory projects: provide technical leadership to junior GHG accounting staff on your projects and manager their technical tasks and priorities.
  • Concurrently manage several projects across their lifecycle and be responsible for these projects providing high value to our client while being on time and budget.
  • Provide guidance and technical leadership to clients as well as colleagues on leading practices, standards, and trends, incorporating this knowledge into consulting projects, proposals and the evolution of new services.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to Junior staff on projects.
  • Support team leadership with proposal development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, mathematics, engineering, science, economics or related field required. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
  • 7/9+ years’ experience in corporate GHG emissions accounting across multiple sectors, acquired either in-house or in a consultancy environment.
  • Excitement and passion about ESG, Nature and Climate resilience.
  • Proficiency in calculating and reporting scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, with demonstrated experience in key topic areas, including setting inventory boundaries, accounting for renewable energy, accounting for supply chain emissions using multiple approaches (EEIO, LCA, supplier-specific data); additional experience with accounting for flag emissions is a plus.
  • Experience with financed emissions (scope 3 cat 15) is highly valued.
  • Understanding of life cycle assessments and product carbon footprints.
  • Proficiency with carbon accounting and reporting standards and programs (e.g., ISO 14064, GHG protocol).
  • Knowledgeable about current and emerging policy and regulatory drivers of GHG emissions disclosure and management in North America and globally.
  • Knowledgeable about, and experience with a subset of, carbon management enterprise software solutions.
  • Highly autonomous with ability to deliver complex projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

The successful applicant will be a part of data handling professionals who will be part of WSP GCC UK Advisory Team, delivering the highest standards of technical work and aiding the continued success of the S&CC business by assisting us in our client focused delivery of projects. The role is for an enthusiastic, efficient and highly-organised professional with extensive experience of quantifying carbon emissions and compiling carbon footprints. The successful candidate will be driven to seek a varied role in a top-tier consultancy working to address sustainability and climate change challenge.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant would be responsible for many of the following:

  • The management and delivery of technical work (e.g. SECR, carbon management quantification and engagement) and outputs (reports, briefing notes, carbon models) relating to climate change mitigation for clients
  • Leading, authoring and contributing to the GHG chapters as part of the consenting requirements for developments
  • Analysing and researching clients’ sustainability and climate change challenges and using best practice tools and approaches to provide industry-leading advice
  • Assisting and - where appropriate - leading, preparation of material for A-class quality proposals, capability statements and strategic documents

  • Project, management – reviewing and delivering outcomes on time, to budget and to the expected quality
  • Strong experience of GHG strategies and quantification, including carbon footprinting of infrastructure projects
