Dan Matthews
Dan Matthews is a highly experienced Firmware Engineer and technical leader with over two decades of expertise in firmware development, hardware design, and engineering management. Currently serving as a Principal Firmware Engineer at Fellow Products in San Francisco, Dan brings a wealth of knowledge in embedded systems, battery management, and electronics design. Dan has held leadership roles such as COO and VP of Engineering at Amped Innovation, where he oversaw engineering design, manufacturing, and global production management across the USA, China, and Africa. He has also contributed to innovative projects at BioLite and Meridian Design, Inc., where he developed firmware and hardware solutions for products ranging from solar lighting systems to thermal electric stoves. With a strong technical background, Dan is proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, Python, and Assembly, and has extensive experience with microcontrollers like ESP32, PIC, ARM, MIPS, and MSP430. He is also skilled in modern development tools, version control systems, and rigorous quality assurance processes. Dan’s global experience includes managing teams and projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, demonstrating his adaptability and leadership in diverse cultural and technical environments. He holds multiple patents in areas like battery management systems, UV water purification, and intelligent vehicle power control. Educated at Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s in Engineering Management and Business, Dan combines technical expertise with strong business acumen. He has successfully managed a wide range of individual assignments, collaborating with esteemed organizations: Amped Innovation USA, GIZ India, Bihar Innovation Forum, Fair Trade Forum India, International Fund for Agriculture Development, Khadi Village Industries Commission India, and Belkin International Inc USA.
